Legacy of the Sea – Wan Ye ’22

A drawing made for the 2020 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest, the theme being Climate Hope: Transforming Crisis. This piece critiques humanity’s consumerism and bastardization of the oceans through the pollution of consumer products. The piece features a figure inspired by Adam from The Creation of Adam reaching out towards a light in the place of God. The light symbolizes the fleeting hope for saving our oceans. If we are to save our oceans, we must act now.
